Adelaide Bean was an actress, a journalist, and a member of the Communist Party of the United States of America (CPUSA). Bean grew up in Connecticut, in a small town between Hartford and New Britain. Her mother was a musician and her father was a business executive. She studied music and voice at the Oxford School in Hartford and graduated in 1928.
